Chemical Peel Information and Benefits

There are several types of chemical peels, each one having a unique chemical composition. The type of chemical peel that is right for you depends upon your skin type, the desired effect you would like, the treatment to have, and your skin tone. The different types of chemical peels have different levels of intensity, with some chemical peels providing gentle, light exfoliation and others providing more intense, deep exfoliating effects. Chemical peels can be used to erase deep wrinkles, reduce blotchy or red patches on the skin and remove skin blemishes.

A chemical peel is one of the least invasive ways to improve the texture and appearance of your skin. Lenae adjusts the precise chemical peel face treatment formula used in order to meet each patient’s specific needs.

Hydration Facial

This luxurious firming masque uses honey and natural milk proteins to help improve the appearance of dry dull damaged skin. Extracts of horsetail, black currant and soybean oil nourish and tone the skin.

Fruit Enzyme Peel

This non-abrasive exfoliant uses the enzymes papin and bromelain combined with salicylic acid to reduce dead skin build- up. Naturally fragrant spearmint and camphor oils awaken the skin while brightening the complexion.

Glycolic Moisture Masque

A hydrating cream-based masque with elevated levels of glycolic acid for optimal skin smoothing results. This gentle effective formula exfoliates while replenishing moisture to smooth fine lines and soften the skin.

Pro Peel

Regular cleansing will remove surface dirt and time, but only a facial mask will actually draw out impurities from beneath the top layers of the epidermis. Weekly mask treatments help exfoliate dead skin cells and unclog pores so your toning, hydrating and protecting products work more effectively. Masks also help stimulate blood circulation and leave your skin feeling smoother and softer.

Hyaluronic Acid LED Masque

Hyaluronic acid, the naturally occurring substance found in the joints as well as the dermal layers, provides lubricity. It binds over 10,000 times its own weight in water, which makes it ideal for boosting and maintaining hydration in the skin.

Dermaplane is a safe, non-invasive treatment which uses a special surgical tool at a forty-five degree angle which is stroked along the skin, while holding the skin taut, to remove “peach fuzz” as well as dead skin cells. The removal not only allows for cell renewal, but also allows for better penetration of professional and home products. Dermaplaning reduces recent acne scars, fine lines, and produces immediate results with no downtime.

Dermaplaning is fantastic on its own, though it can also be used in combination with almost any facial or chemical peel for a greater impact.

Different Types of Peels:

This refers to a treatment that does not usually cause immediate exfoliation and only removes the outer layer of skin or the stratum corneum. As treatments are repeated, the skin will experience a mild sloughing.
These peels affect the intra-epidermal layer, and exfoliation occurs within two to three days after application. The skin goes through very little down time. Peeling consists of light flaking similar to a sunburn peel.
These peels affect the deepest intra-epidermal layers. The skin becomes brown and crusty then undergoes considerable peeling, which occurs three to four days after application. The skin peels in large segments as opposed to flaking. The entire process takes about seven to ten days.

What type of home care should I use after my chemical peel?

There are specific instructions to be followed after your skin peel – this is as important as the peel itself. Post care will include occlusive healing balms, epidermal growth factor (cell renewal and wound repair), calming, soothing topicals to reduce itching and inflammation, and always sun screen! When the skin peel is completed and your professional has determined the skin is healed, daily skin care is essential. The most important part of a home care routine is a cleanser and a sunblock. Next in importance is a supportive cell rejuvenator. These are the basics. Additional specialty products, such as pumice and buffing washes, antioxidants, eye serums, nighttime moisturizers, AHAs, ascorbic acid, retinol, enzymes, masks, and topical correctives may be added to enhance and maintain results.
